I was an Electro-Technical Cadet once. When it came time to prepare for the MMD oral exam, I ran into a wall that every ETO cadet hits - there is simply nothing to study from.
The written exam? Manageable - question papers repeat and you can work backwards. But the oral examination is a different beast. There is no official syllabus. No structured notes. Just a surveyor across the table who can ask you anything within Function 5, and you either know it or you don't.
So I did what a determined cadet would do. I collected every surveyor question I could find - from seniors, from forums, from candidates who had just come out of their orals. I sorted them. I categorized them. I mapped out the 23 core topics that everything falls under.
Then I built notes around those topics. Organized around exactly what surveyors actually ask. The notes I wish I had when I was preparing.
These notes may not be 100% accurate - always cross-reference with actual technical data. But they give you a starting point, a framework, and the confidence of knowing you haven't missed anything obvious.
This is my contribution back to the ETCO community. If it helps even one cadet walk into that oral with more confidence, it was worth every hour building it.
